The Happy People Helping People (HPHP) was formed in 2013 and works with stalls selling economy rice in estates where the beneficiaries work or live in. Volunteers from the Humanist Society (Singapore) have joined HPHP from time to time to help deliver food and goodie bags to beneficiaries.
Over the past year, repeated Covid-19 lockdowns have made it more difficult for aid groups to reach the needy. However, dedicated organisers at the HPHP have kept their outreach going.
On 5 Sept 2021, some HSS volunteers joined in to help deliver food and NTUC vouchers to some needy families in the Jalan Besar and Geylang area. This initiative is organized by the Community Service WG, with the food and NTUC voucher was generously sponsored by the Madasamy family.
Volunteers delivered in two separate groups of 2-5 each, with 1 group delivering from 11am – 1pm (Jalan Besar) and another group from 5-6pm (Geylang).
If you are interested in this activity, write to us at infg@humanist.org.sg and we will coordinate with HPHP.
HSS and HPHP enjoy a good relationship. In 2016, some HSS volunteers also joined a HPHP-organised outing for elderly at the River Safari.
On our World Humanist Day 2016, we invited HPHP’s founder Mohammad Nafiz Bin Kamarudin (below) as a speaker. In 2017, HPHP’s good work was featured by The New Paper.
