Darwin Day 2023: Off the beaten track at Pang Sua Woodland

Date
19/02/2023

Time
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

As part of Darwin Day 2023, we are going off the beaten track – Pang Sua Woodland.

Pang Sua Woodland is one of Singapore’s disappearing green areas, slated to be developed for housing. Nestled between housing estates in Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang, the beautiful 15ha woodland is part of the Rail Corridor.

In 2021, Cicada Tree Eco-Place (CTEP) and Nature Society (Singapore) (NSS) launched the book “Pang Sua Woodland: Sanctuary Unveiled Along the Rail Corridor”, proposing the conservation and protection of the woodland from urban development. Nature groups have highlighted Pang Sua Woodland as an important conduit for wildlife dispersal. In 2022, following an environmental study and public feedback, the HDB changed plans to accommodate at least 2ha of existing greenery.
