Nominate for Annual General Meeting 2015 now!

Dear members,

In preparation for the 2015 Annual General Meeting of the Humanist Society (Singapore), we would like to invite fellow members to run as members of the coming year’s Executive Committee. The following posts will be available this year for a 2-year term:

  1. Vice-president
  2. Secretary
  3. Ordinary Committee Member

and the following post for a 1-year term:

  1. Assistant-Secretary

In accordance with the Constitution of the Humanist Society (Singapore), any member who wishes to run for the above-mentioned posts must meet with the following criteria.

Post Criteria

1) Vice President

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Must have been a member for at least a year

2) Secretary

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Must have been a member for at least a year

3) Assistant Secretary

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Must have been a member for at least six months

4) Ordinary Committee

  • Members Must have been a member for at least six months

The roles of each committee member are below:

  1. The Vice President shall assist the President and deputise for him in his absence.
  2. The Secretary shall keep all records, except financial, of the Society and shall be responsible for their correctness.  He will keep minutes of all General and Committee meetings.  He shall maintain an up‑to‑date Register of Members at all times.
  3. The Assistant Secretary shall assist the Secretary and deputise for him in his absence.
  4. Ordinary Committee Members shall assist in the general administration of the Society and perform duties assigned by the Committee from time to time.

Following clause 4.3 of the society’s constitution, only members who are above 21 years of age shall have the right to vote and to hold office in the Society.

  •  Name and contact of a member of the Society who seconds the nomination

The closing date for all nominations is the 28th of February 2015.
