The Humanist Society (Singapore) will be having its monthly Peer Support Group on 18 October 2020, Sunday, 2.30 – 4.30 p.m. This month’s theme will be Mindfulness. Participants will be learn what mindfulness is and how it can help you, and experience a short mindfulness meditation practice session.

About the trainer:

This session will be facilitated by Mr Ong Pee Eng. He is a qualified mindfulness trainer who teaches mindfulness meditation to reduce stress and improve well-being. He started practising mindfulness while studying in NUS, more than 25 years ago. After graduating, he went to work in the IT industry. He was a software project manager for 20 years. More than a decade ago, he hit midlife crisis due to a reorganisation within the company. He ramped up his mindfulness practice, and it tided him over that stressful period. Now he trains people in mindfulness practice full-time. He conducts mindfulness workshop, 4 to 8 weeks mindfulness course, 6 to 10 weeks mindfulness class for students in schools, and 1-on-1 meditation session. His interest in evidence-based teaching led him to pursue further training. He is a Qualified Teacher of the 8-week MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) program from the University of Massachusetts (UMASS), Center for Mindfulness in the US, a Certified Teacher of the mindfulness for student program, Paws b (7-11yrs) and .b (11-18yrs) from the Mindfulness in School Project (MiSP) in the UK, and a Certified ACTA (Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment) trainer under WSQ (Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications)
