After expressing interest to join the Exco, candidates run for Exco elections at our annual general meeting. Elected Exco members form the core leadership of the HSS and they deal with administrative matters, event logistics, IT and marketing work of the Society.

The Exco also sets the strategic direction for the Society, which are broad approvals that volunteers can work with.

Announcement: Nominees for the 2026 Executive Committee Elections

Dear Members,

Following the close of the nomination period at 2359hrs on February 15, 2026, the Committee has verified all submissions. In accordance with Clause 9 of our Constitution, we are pleased to announce the nominees for the upcoming term.

The following lists identify positions that are uncontested (walkovers) and those that will proceed to a vote at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

1. Uncontested Positions (Walkovers)

In accordance with Clause 9.2, the following individuals were proposed and seconded in writing. As no other valid nominations were received for these specific roles, these nominees will be elected unopposed:

  • President: Nic Jude Das
  • Secretary (1-Year Term): Lavendran
  • Assistant Secretary: Roy A. Lee

2. Contested Positions (Subject to Election)

Pursuant to Clause 9.2 and 9.3, the following positions have received multiple valid nominations. These will be decided by a simple majority vote of the members at the AGM.

Position: Ordinary Committee Member (2 Seats Available)

  • Robin Weber
  • Melvin Lim
  • Jianyue Xue

Important Voting Information

  • Voting Method: Under Clause 9.3, the election will be conducted by a show of hands or, subject to the agreement of the majority of voting members present, by secret ballot. In the event of a tie, the Chairman of the meeting shall have a casting vote.
  • Eligibility to Vote: Per Clause 8.10, a member or proxy is not entitled to vote unless all annual membership fees and dues have been paid before the start of the general meeting.
  • Quorum Requirements: Per Clause 8.8, at least 25% of the total voting membership or thirty (30) voting members, whichever is the lesser, must be physically present to form a quorum. Please note that proxies do not count toward the quorum.
  • Proxies: If you cannot attend, you may appoint a proxy by notifying the EXCO no later than March 26, 2026 (48 hours before the meeting), as per Clause 8.6.1.

Strategic Direction (March 2025 – March 2026)


The Humanist Society Exco has approved the following by default. Exco just needs to be notified in accordance to the Event Checklist.

Lectures:
0-2 per month

Interfaith events: 2 events in 6 months

Social events (member/society initiated): unlimited

Barbeques (society initiated): 1-3 per year. One of the barbeques shall be funded by the society.
Minimum of 4 events per year for the benefit of members and donors (ie. Volunteer Appreciation Day).

Community work: 1-4 per year

Budgeting: Loyalty programme for members 

Publicity: SGD 500 per year

Merchandise: New merchandise will require approval from the Exco.

External events: Participants should not have objections from the Exco.
The Treasurer and/or another Exco member should be responsible for approval of petty expenses below SGD 50.
