Hi, I am Yue Kong and I’m a committee member of Humanist SG. I help to post articles and videos of interest to humanists on our FB page and assist with the provision of humanist celebrant services.
I joined the Humanist SG because I believe that most of the world’s problems are compounded by the inherent shortcomings of the human brain. The fact that we are vulnerable to numerous heuristics and cognitive biases means that we need to adopt a progressive mind-set in order to think rationally about various issues. We have to be able to form opinions using logic, reason and be willing to change those opinions when contradicting evidence are surfaced. Hence, I believe that the promotion of a rational evidence-based approach to problems is of utmost importance to the well-being of our society and of humanity.
Come join us if you want to work with like-minded people and help create a society which is “guided by reason, informed by evidence and driven by compassion.
