Humanism is a rational and ethical life-stance shared and affirmed by many around the world from all walks of life and occupations. In this workshop, we will introduce Humanism and explore Humanism in Singapore, and give participants a chance to interact with Humanists and people interested in Humanism.

The workshop will begin with a short introduction to Humanism by our two guest speakers, Wong Koi Hin and Paul Tobin. This will be followed by a group discussion, which will give participants an opportunity to explore topics related to Humanism. We invite participants to suggest topics for discussion and encourage participants to explore how Humanism might be relevant on both a personal and societal level.

SPEAKERS BIO:

WONG KOI HIN was first introduced to Humanism as a life-stance and movement in the 1990s though the biography of Issac Asimov. He has conducted Introduction to Humanism workshops for the past 2 years in Singapore. Koi Hin has been in the IT and education sector for over 10 years and he regularly speaks at conferences and seminars on technical topics and entrepreneurship.

PAUL TOBIN is the first and founding President of the Humanist Society (Singapore). He runs an SME that provides equipment and services for the oil & gas industry and is married with 4 children. He is the author of the book “The Rejection of Pascal’s Wager: A Skeptic’s Guide to the Bible and the Historical Jesus” and has conducted several Introduction to Humanism talks at NUS.
